Joys of Spring!

I adore springtime. When I return home each day, I like to walk around the yard to see the latest buds and blooms. My Katy Road Pink rose is covered in blooms!
My new Rio Grande peach tree has its first leaf.

The Bridal Wreath spirea looks like it is covered in snow. This was one of the very first plants I planted in our yard!
It almost takes my breath away.

I have only had my Chinese Fringe flower for several years. It looks fantastic when backlit by the setting sun! The leaves will become a maroon color as they age.

This amaryllis bud holds the promise of something beautiful!

I just bought this Angel's Trumpet at the plant sale. Not only is it gorgeous, but it has a wonderful scent!
This geranium is happy to see warm spring sunshine too!
Thank you to all who left sympathetic comments for my poor Oprah. I let Ethel and Aretha out of the pen while I watered and pulled weeds this afternoon. They love to scratch around. I am looking for a few more chicks. I would like a couple of "Easter Egger" chicks. They lay blue/green eggs.
Ya'll Come Back!

  1. Is that Angel's Trumpet already blooming? Brenda shared one with me that her neighbor had shared with her, but mine's only about a foot tall, no hint of bloom yet!

  3. Too bad you lost Oprah. Never heard of the blue/green eggs. I live in the country and have never had chickens of my own - but I sure would like to build me a coup. I would be worried about the fox in the woods though. I am going to look into getting some chicks. Love your blog. You are invited to check out mine.

  4. I love that Chinese Fringe Flower. I'll have to check if I can grow that in my zone. It'll be June before we have flowers like yours.

  5. Love the Angel Trumpet. I have a dbl purple one. It bloomed for me last yr. I can't detect a smell. I grew it from seed. I also have a dwarf white one. I really like them but have to be careful as I have ggs's playing around.

  6. Beautiful flowers, Lorilee!

We still only have bulbs blooming up here in Northern Nevada. Although the trees are starting to bloom! I have a weeping cherry that is loaded...just hope it waits one more week, as we're to have snow tonight!
