Some of my favorite plants are fall bloomers! This is Hill Country Aster. The whole bush is covered with blooms. It is awesome! 
I love Nandina 'Fire Power' because of its fall color. It is bright green in the spring and turns deep red in the fall.
I just planted this Bottlebrush 'Little John' this spring.Umm, it doesn't come in purple. 
I also planted my Vitex this spring. It actually blooms in the spring and summer too! I think the butterfly is a Painted Lady. 
I looked in all the nurseries in town for a Golden Raintree. None had them. I grew this one from seeds that I picked up in my husband's grandmother's yard. The seed pods are some of the prettiest fall color in this area, in my opinion.Ya'll Come Back Now!

Aren't you lucky you didn't find a Golden Raintree to buy? That one will always be more special because it came from your husband's grandmother's.
ReplyDeleteI love Nandina's, too for their terrific color; I use them as filler in cut flower bouquets a lot.
Beautiful shots of your flowers. I can not wait for spring...I think I have a long wait ahead of me! That's when all my flowers are at their best!
