School Days!

I have been pretty busy, and not spending much time at home between school all day, errands, clogging, and football games! My students have been having fun with our latest project. It is not really art since we have a specific outcome! It is fine motor work and math! We call it Smiling Salad. I found a book by the same name which I read to the children. It uses photographs of a real salad. (We are studying grocery stores this week). We follow up by making our own Smiling Salads with paper on a paper plate. I love the way this little boy is concentrating so intensely on getting the drop of glue just so on the piece of paper!
This little boy is about to add the first of the three pieces of "celery" for the mouth on his salad. (We used a diecut numeral 3 for the slice of yellow pepper. Anything to save time for the teachers)

A teacher across the hall has this cool spider hanging from a wreath on her door. It is made with a copper scrubber. I hope to try some with the silver colored scrubbers and black chenille sticks! I'm not sure if I'll get to do any crafting this weekend. I still need to get my Halloween decorating finished. I will also be on-the-go Friday and Saturday. My son is taking a Hunter Education course from 6 til dark on Friday and form 8 a.m. til around 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Ya'll Come Back Now!

  1. Love the spider; where do people get such great idea! I loved anything we got to do with glue, or even better PASTE, when I was in school!

  2. Looks like they are doing a fine job!
That spider is too cute. I ask the same question as Nola - how do people come up with these ideas? I can copy an idea as good as the next person but I'm in awe of the people who come up with the ideas in the first place.
