Baby bat rescue!

The other day I noticed a baby bat hanging on the fence under the bat house. Last spring, I found baby bats under the house every day for about a week. I spent lots of time climbing the ladder with little gargoyle-like baby bats. This one was older than the bats I found last year. Its eyes were already open and it had fur. I put it back into the house two times! I've been checking under the bat house each morning now. So far so good!

  4. I've been reading a lot about bats and white nose syndrome. It seems to be affecting lots of populations around the country. How cool that you have one to observe up close!

  6. Aren't bats the cutest?! I love watching them fly around at dusk while they're catching insects.

That's so cool that you have them in your yard!

  11. If you go to a bat rescue sit there is a lot of information on how to put some netting under your bat house so that when the baby bats fall out they have something to catch onto and it is safer than falling to the ground. Also it states that the heat in th box is what causes the poor little guys to lose their grip and fall out.

I wish I could have a bat house! I live in a condo though.
