Spring has brought much beauty to my yard and the surrounding countryside! Flowers are everywhere!
The warm weather also beings out the beasts! Snakes are on the move. My nephew found this one on their driveway and brought it for us to see. It is a hognose or spread adder. It is not venomous, but it definitely tries to look scary.
It puffs itself up and then hisses as it releases the air.
It kept these critters entertained!
When all else fails, it rolls over, squirms a bit and plays dead!
If you look closely, you can see the tongue sticking out.
Hi Lorilee. Hope you had a fabulous Mother's Day! What beautiful flowers. We are having some very cold nights with freeze warnings so I'll have to wait a bit longer to plant my flowers. Eeeeek! That's a big snake! They are out in full force here too only it takes them a while to warm up with these cool nights. I had one (garter snake) in the top branches of my boxwood shrub just sunning himself! Have a great day!
We do not have snakes like that in my little corner of the world! I am thankful for that! The flowers are very pretty! Memorial Day weekend is usually the time it is safe to plant annuals. I have a few planted already, I need to look outside and see signs that warmer weather is on the way! denise
Yikes! Mimi

Beautiful flowers! My friend used to put snakes down the gopher holes in her garden. It was a lot more effective that the gopher traps.
