May you never forget what is worth remembering,
or remember what is best forgotten.
Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
Just in case you were wondering!
St. Patrick, whose given name was probably Maewyn Succat, was born in Wales about AD 385. His Romancized name was probably Patricus. Until the age of 16, he considered himself a pagan. He became a Christian after being sold into slavery by Irish marauders. After escaping slavery, six years later, he studied in the monastery in Gaul under St. Germain. Here he felt the calling to convert the pagans to Christianity. He spent thirty years in Ireland, establishing monasteries, and setting up schools and churches. He died on March 17, AD 461. The shamrock became symbolic of St. Patrick because he used the three-leafed shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity.
May you have the hindsight to know where youve been,
the insight to know where you are,
and the foresight to know when you've gone to far.
