First night in the big house!

Saturday night the peeps spent their first night in the "big house". I had gone out the close the coop and the hens were already roosting. The peeps had not yet gone into their kennel. I decided to try putting them into the coop. The hens didn't leave their roost, so I continued putting more peeps into the coop. The peeps were chirping hysterically. I closed the door and listened for awhile. The hens never left their roost and the peeps slowly quietened down.
I tried to go out to open the coop early so the hens wouldn't be awake too long and harrass the peeps. Aretha likes to harrass them the most. I am guessing it is because she is the low hen between the two big girls, and she wants to let the peeps know she is number two. The peep in the photo above is trying to stay out of Aretha's way.

  1. Poor peeps! Reminds me of any new saltwater fish that get added to my aquarium. Last fish in gets harassed for several days by his predecessor!

  4. I'm guessing that if you left Aretha and the Peeps shut in the big house too long, they'd cut a hit record.

  5. The peeps will learn not to mess with Aretha! The last photo is funny- all you can see is a flash of peep legs running in the door! LOL
