Hambone happiness!

Yes, I know. It looks as if I only cook on Sundays. During the school year, that is almost true! In any case, I had a hambone frozen from our Christmas ham, and I was hungry for 15 Bean Soup. The bone went into my new stock pot. (I needed a new large pot with a completely flat bottom for the glass top stove.)
Next came the beans that had been soaking overnight. After a couple of hours of simmering, I added an onion, a couple of cloves of garlic, a can of diced tomatoes, a bell pepper, a couple stalks of celery, salt, pepper, and a dash of lemon juice. After simmering a bit longer, we had 15 Bean Soup for supper.

We enjoyed the soup, and my chickens enjoyed the ham bone!

" MMMMM, peck, peck, tastes like chicken! Just kidding! "

Aren't those fluffy tooties cute?

  6. Off topic but in reply to your note on my blog....does your martin house have "crescent" holes? That shape, from what I've read, keeps starlings out. Cheers! And thanks for reading!
