It didn't take long, and it was a pleasantly scented job! The worst thing to happen was getting some sap on my hands. The sticky is gone, but I continue to smell of Christmas tree as I type. Not a bad thing!
All done. Now to test fit some of my empty bottles. I did decide that I like them without the labels. So, back into the kitchen to scrape them off with a razor blade. Citrus spray took care of any sticky residue. Next came a bath in soapy water to remove the oily residue! For now, it is held up against the Purple Martin house pole with plastic tie wraps. This will be OK until it is time to put up the birdhouse in February. Then I will have to decide on a base! I thought I had more bottles saved! I guess this will be a good excuse to drink more wine!
Ya'll Come Back!

You bet Lorilee! I have all my friends doing the same for me. Ha! Hubby and I got a good laugh out of your excitement.
ReplyDeleteOne tip, once this bottle tree is filled up, I use long lag screws to hold more bottles on my backyard bottle tree. And believe me, it will get filled up quickly! Looks great and sounds like fun!
Shall we start a Bottle Tree Blogger Club?:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute bottle tree and i have to say it is the first one I have ever seen. But you were outside in the fresh air, as my mom would say. Okay I am really laughing but considering all the brown around I think the colorful bottle tree is inspired.

Your bottle tree is going to be awesome. My sad little bottle tree is put together on a dormant hibiscus and is just pitiful compaired to yours. I don't think y'all would let me in the bottle tree club.
ReplyDeleteUmm Debbie,
