Gottlieb is my rooster. He is an Ameraucana. I think he is the most handsome rooster I have seen! He thinks so too. He struts around the run like a king. He is named after my Great-grandfather Gottlieb, who came to America from the town of Stein in Switzerland, located on the Rhine river.
I adore his muff!
There he goes! Off to strut!
Y'all come back,

  1. wow! he is a gorgeous thing, isn't he!? with a fine and handsome handle to match!

  2. I agree. The handsomest one I have seen.

  3. No doubt that Gottlieb is king of the roost!!!!

He is one fine lookin' rooster all right!

From the sunny hills and hollers of the Missouri Ponderosa, ya'll have a blessed and beautiful day now...ya hear???

  4. What a handsome dude he is for sure, love his muff! That Theadore below here is pretty curt too! ;)

  5. What a regal rooster! He looks like a beautiful carving. Gorgeous colors. He seems to be huge, any idea what he weighs? I would love to keep a few chickens, but it isn't allowed where I live. I had a pet bantam rooster and hen when I was a little girl. My mom set up a homemade incubator in an aquarium on the dining room buffet and I watched them peck their way out of their egg shells. The rooster was mean and loved to chase me, but the little hen laid the best eggs I have ever eaten. I've been a reader of your site for quite some time. Love your chickens and the baby bats, too!

  6. Ooooh~ what a handsome fellow! His plumage is beautiful!

  7. I love your rooster!! It amazes me how different Americauna's can look. He is a good looking guy though and I love his name!

  8. Oh, Lorelei he is absolutely gorgeous! I had a pet rooster when we lived in Texas. His name was Lonesome George, because he was the only chicken on the place. He never let me touch him on purpose, but he would come close to my chair if I was sitting outside, and I would sneak a little rub across his feathers. He was very gentle with our then-one and half to two year old grandson. But he terrorized our 95-pound Rhodesian Ridgeback because he had to have dominance over something, and poor Penny let him do it for a long time, but finally had enough, and then poor George went to that chicken pen in the sky. He was a White Leghorn and I just loved him, but I always thought it would have been neat to have such a colorful rooster as yours.

  9. I just realized that even though I have been following you, I have not been getting updates of your new posts! I'm way behind!
What a gorgeous rooster. These pics are just wonderful!
