Rooster tray

I love my new rooster tile tray. A friend gave me the rooster tiles several years ago. She had planned to use them on her backsplash during a kitchen remodel but changed her mind. I boxed them up and thought about them every now and then. This spring, my brother and SIL re-grouted the tile on their kitchen counter. I came across my box of tiles and said to myself, "Hmmmm, ---- just re-grouted his countertops. I bet he still has grout and the tools". So I found a wooden tray on sale at Hobby Lobby and took it along with the tiles to his house. He did all the work for me. My brother is a sweety that way!

Faux Mercury Glass Pumpkin

I love my fall centerpiece! I won the glass pumpkin at Bunco last year. This year, I decided to use Looking Glass spray paint and give it a faux Mercury Glass treatment. I found the cake stand at Hobby Lobby for 60% off.
I found the big acorns while walking in the neighborhood with my husband. The seed pods are from my Golden Rain Tree.

Following trends!

I've noticed so much "subway art" in blog-land and on Pinterest! I had to give it a try. This is it.
I also found an old photo frame to use as a photo prop!  It was natural wood. I painted it bright red.
Oh, and we have caught camper fever!

Lovin Burlap and Spray Paint!

Two infatuations come together-burlap banners and candy corn!
 YUMMY!
"BOO" for my front door. I guess I should have turned the purple lights on! I keep them on a timer.

Painting projects!

A while back, I posted about getting this chair that belonged to my sweety's grandmother. My Granny also had a similar chair on her front porch. Last weekend, I started re-painting it.
While I worked on this chair, my sweety did some repair painting on our patio dining set.

First came the prep work, treating a few rust spots and sanding.

Next came the main color. I used Rustoleum Seafoam Green.

Then came masking off the main part of the chair. I discovered that I had used up my favorite blue painter's tape. I had to settle for plain masking tape.
And finally, the "new" chair! I love it!

"Boo" Fun!

Each Halloween, we "BOO" other faculty and staff members with little treats! Those wanting to participate put their name on a ghost and tape it to the cabinets in the teachers' lounge. Starting today, each person participating can take a ghost from the wall and "BOO" that person with a treat. I found the little Jack-o-lantern at our HEB Plus. I had the little jingle bell charms in my craft tubs. I spray-painted a basket I already had. I dipped Nutter Butter cookies in melted Almond Bark and added mini chocolate chips for their eyes and mouths. I had some bark left, so I filled some Wilton ghost molds with it.

I had to take the photo outside of my vehicle at school since I finished putting it together this morning. It was still too dark to take a photo when I left home. Once inside my classroom, I added some chocolate candy. We are not supposed to spend over $5.00.

Letters and Spray Paint

Several days ago, I showed my blogging buddies the letters that I had scavenged from our neighborhood sign demolition! The letters were originally a bright gold. My first plan was to paint them flat black, but then I saw the hammered copper spray paint at the store. I decided to give it a try. First, I lightly sanded the letters. I sprayed the one on the right with a copper hammered paint directly over the gold. The letter on the left, I painted flat black first, and then I sprayed it with the hammered copper paint. I like both of them. My son opted for the black with hammered copper method for his "B".

Here it is hanging in his bedroom. His bedroom is painted with 2 shades of a denimy blue. First I painted the walls the lighter shade of blue. Then I mixed the darker shade with the glaze. I painted the glaze mixture on the wall a section at a time and then pressed thin paper that I had wadded and wrinkled up onto the wall to remove some of the darker shade. I would not do a whole room with this method again. It made my arms and hands very sore!

Letters to spray paint!

I am on my neighborhood's sign committee. We have been raising money to have the neighborhood sign replaced. This last Saturday, we met and demolished the old dilapidated sign. Several of us saved some of the old letters. They are just plastic molded letters painted gold. I thought they would be fun for trying out some spray painting techniques.
