Flower Toes

I decided I needed a really fun pedicure! I think these Sally Hanson nail polish strips do the trick! They are my salute to the end of summer!

Dream Bicycle!

I have missed riding a bike! I have a mountain bike with 2 flat tires. It also makes my arms, shoulders and palms hurt from leaning forward! I decided I really wanted a nice old-fashioned bicycle. I love the look of the Cruisers! This is MY new cruiser! The basket has handles and can be removed and carried. I also have a pretty cloth liner to put in it.

If the 100+ temperatures would end, I would be riding more! Send some fall weather to South Texas, please!

Back again!

Hello again. It has been quite a while since I've posted. I've been MIA for several reasons. First I have been busy. Second, my laptop died. Busy, with gardening, crocheting,  new chicks, end of school year, photography, and a new kitten. I will share the kitten and chicks soon. As the photo shows, my gardening gloves were quite worn out. I had been unable to find the same kind locally. My sweet hubby ordered 4 pairs for me.
The first pair is already getting broken in. Back to the dead laptop. Luckily, it died AFTER I had edited and saved the photos I took for a local church's confirmation group to a flash drive. David decided that we should try a MacBook Pro since I've been through several PC laptops. It is awesome, but I have much to learn. Most of the old programs that I used don't work on the Mac, so I am learning to use new programs. I'm glad that school will be out in one week, so that I will have more time to devote to getting it all figured out! I've also been working on the afghan I am crocheting. I will share that soon as well.
For now, here are some flowers that are blooming in my garden.         A Gerbera.
A tropical series Canna.
A Butterscotch Ruffles daylily.
More daylilies.
Strawberry Candy daylily.
Ming Porcelain daylily. I also ordered and planted some daylilies from the Paynes in the Grass Daylily Farm.

This and That

May is a busy month for teachers and gardeners! Being both, I have not found much time for blogging! I want to share a little of this and that.
I love this little plaque that I recently received as a bunco prize! I am so blessed to be part of such a lovely group of ladies!
Blooms are everywhere in my garden! This is one of my favorite daylilies-Ming Porcelain. The color is so soft and velvety. It also has a nice fragrance.Be warned, I have many favorite daylilies!
Besides being hooked on daylilies, I am also falling in love with irises. This is 'Ann Chowning'. I have recently added 'Sinfonietta' and 'Full Eclipse'. I think they have probably already bloomed this year, so I will have a long wait to see them bloom in my garden. Patience is a good thing in the garden!
We added this urn water feature a few weeks ago. The vitex behind it is starting to bloom as well. It is also known as Texas Lilac.
I neglected to trim back my antique roses this year, so they are quite wild and leggy looking! I will just have to focus on the blooms! Hopefully, I will not neglect my blog as well and be back soon!

Where to start?

Where to start? I guess there is no real need to say that I have been busy! Most of my time after school has been spent outside working in my yard. My flowerbeds are FULL of weeds, so I have been weeding and mulching. I have also planted most of my veggie garden. I got a late start there. Hopefully, not too late!

Computer time was spent editing photos for a group of youngsters that received their First Holy Communion. After having them printed, I had to sort and package them for mailing. Thankfully, Mr. CC made the trip to the post office for me. I will be taking photos for the Holy Confirmation group in a few weeks.
I have also managed a little bit of crocheting. I am working on an afghan now.
The chickens were thrilled with a little free-ranging time before I planted the garden! Chickens and seedlings don't mix!

Does any one else buy food just for the jar?

I am a push-over for a pretty jar! My local H.E.B. carried these German mustards for a short time. I had to buy some just for the jars. My great-grandfather, Gottlieb, came to America from a town called Stein on the Rhine River.Oh, and the mustard was great! Has anyone else ever bought something just for the jar?

A Toe Tale

Rascal is just plain nosey. He has to climb onto and into everything.
He thought checking out the fountain was fun UNTIL---
 he got his toes wet.
I finally found and tried one of the new nail products by Sally Hansen. Unlike Rascal, MY toes stayed dry. I love houndstooth, so I tried it first. I found I could use one strip on two of my smaller toes. I applied to one toe, filed it off and then placed the other end onto another toe.
These also look fun. HEB Plus had coupons, so I splurged. Have you tried them. What did you think?

Jackpot!

Well not exactly the jackpot, but a good haul! I went to the local Quilt Guild quilt show on Saturday. I arrived much later than I had hoped because Mom duty called. The quilts were beautiful. I'm sorry I didn't take any photos. My friend, Martha works for a local sewing shop, and was working in their vendor booth. They had several quilting and embroidery machines to try. I was able to embroidery my initial onto scrapbook paper for the cute keychain. Now I want one of those machines, but it will have to wait awhile. I found the bracelet and Volume 3 of Apronology at another booth. I have been looking for Apronology for over a year! I was thrilled! I love the apron made from neckties! Y'all Come Back, Lorilee

Flowers and Stuff

My sweety gave me this beautiful arrangement for Valentine's Day! Aren't they lovely?

Since the coon got into the run and killed Madeline, I've started closing the coop up at night as an extra precaution. I'm also getting Spring Fever. It has been pleasant and warm, so I've been out in the yard cutting back plants that froze and pulling weeds.

The Estate Sale where I found these goodies is having the last day of the sale and all items are 5o% off. Can I stay away? I don't think so!

Otherwise, I have BIG plans for the weekend-vacuuming, mopping, laundry, more yardwork, and trying Jayme's Artisan Bread recipe! Monday will be here in the blink of an eye!

Sunshine!

Ahhh! Sunshine. It has been a long time since I have hung clothes out on the line.

We had a lovely weekend of sunshine and breezes.

Here in South Texas that also means frequent grass fires.

There was one in the area behind my house. Luckily the wind was in favor of our neighborhood. I don't think any structures or homes were lost. A brush truck did get stuck behind our house for a little while.

Samson didn't even notice.

Chicken in the kitchen!

I wanted to share a sweet gift from my dear friend, Martha. She knows me and my chickens well! She also has an awesome embroidery machine! She is a wonderful seamstress and soooo creative! Thank you so much, Martha.

This and That

O. K. Either there is nothing happening worth blogging about or so much is happening that I don't have time to blog about it! Lately, there has been so much happening that I haven't had time to blog. Since we were hosting Thanksgiving, we had to spend some time getting the house and yard whipped into shape. In all the cleaning frenzy, I stopped to admire this anole relaxing on the gazing ball. I also noticed that my Christmas Cactus was blooming. Maybe it is a Thanksgiving Cactus.

My hubby purchased a 3rd vehicle since we will have soon have another driver in the family. Doesn't the future driver look happy? He loves jeeps as much as his Dad.
He can hardly wait to turn 16 in March!
Oh, and another look at my blooming Christmas Cactus. It is sitting on top of my pot rack. It won't bloom if I keep it up there all year. I put it on the patio in the summer and in the barn if the weather gets too cold.

These two teens have their learning permits and are dreaming of getting their real driver's license. All they can do right now, is sit in it in the driveway!
We had 24 for Thanksgiving. I caught some giving the jeep a close inspection.
They also spent some time shooting bows in the backyard.

I gave cookie decorating a try for the second time.
Our Thanksgiving was wonderful. We had an abundance of food, along with friends and family to share the food and time with. Our day ended with the thrilling outcome of the Texas A & M vs. u.t. game. The evening was filled with plenty of cheering and whooping!
Friday was spent preparing to leave for the Texas Renaissance Festival! That will be another post!

Resale addiction?

After I finished my shift as a docent for the VPI Historical Home Tours I just had to stop by that resale shop again! I picked up this calendar for $3. I hope to frame some of the pages for my son's apartment.

I need more dishes like I need to eat more calories. I really tried to talk myself out of them, but I couldn't! After all, they were 50 cents each (9 plates). They are Anchor Hocking 'Suburbia'. I definitely need to avoid that store!
