Crocheted Ripples

I have been working on this Ripple spread since February I think. I started it when I ran out of yarn on another project. (I was able to finally get the colors I needed for the other project and will go back to it when this is finished) I got the Ripple Pattern from Lucy at Attic 64.  I love her blog and tutorials!
I guess it is obvious I chose colors to coordinate with my comforter and shams. The reverse side of the comforter and shams is floral which will probably look better with the ripple stripes than more stripes.
Yippee, it shouldn't be long now! This is my second spread and the largest project I have ever crocheted. It is rather cumbersome, and I only work on it while sitting in bed before I go to sleep.

Rummage Sale treasures

My SIL has been in charge of the "boutique"  part of her church's rummage sale. Last year I helped her work on pricing for a day. This year I had a week of Pre-kindergarten teacher workshops to attend and was only able to help for a couple of hours. The perk is getting to shop early! I have been looking for a simple miniature coat rack styled jewelry rack but have been unable to find one that fit my vision or pocket book! SCORE for $1.
A lavender Liz Claiborne handbag. It doesn't appear to have been used at all. I usually buy sensible brown handbags. I always love the brightly colored ones, but I  hate to spend so much money on something that won't match everything! Perfect for $5.
I want to display more of my vintage hat collection, but vintage hat stands are too expensive. This is actually a candle holder that was marked 50 cents! Yippee!
AND I found this crocheted shawl in a box of scarves marked 25 cents each.
These treasures made my day!
I also made my first fabric and appliqué banner. I  was working on it until time for Ashlynn's birthday party and didn't get a photo of it.  So here it is with Ashlynn and her mom, Michelle.

Hooked on Crochet!

This is my first crocheted blanket. The pattern is called Blackberry Salad. I found it on Ravelry. I really want to make it larger, but Hobby Lobby is currently out of several of the colors.
So, while I am waiting on the needed colors for the Blackberry Salad blanket, I started another project. This pattern is the Ripple pattern posted on Ravelry by Lucy of Attic 24.
I'm not sure why the order of my photos was changed, but I am too lazy to bother starting over!
Back to the new Ripple blanket project. These are the colors that I am using. I am using "I Love this Yarn" from Hobby Lobby for both blankets.

Great yarn for scarves!

A sweet friend introduced me to this awesome yarn for making scarves! These colors are "Starbella" and "Sundance Holiday Frill" that I found online. I found a line called "Chrysallis" at Hobby Lobby and Wal-Mart carries a Red Heart version.
I love them!
I get 2 scarves from one skein. I better get busy!

Crocheting and shoes!

I am so glad that school is out for the summer. I hope to spend more time working on my current crochet project, the Blackberry Salad Striped afghan. We are finally getting some rain here in south Texas. That should mean some good indoor crocheting time. I didn't really take advantage though, laundry took precedence! I have been crocheting in the evenings while we watch TV. During the school year, I don't get to watch TV until we are in bed, hence, not much crocheting gets done.
Obviously, I have some crocheting ahead of me!
I finally finished the Japanese Flower shawl that I started LAST YEAR! I still need to block it. I first saw it done by Lucy at Attic24. I love her blog! She is so talented!
While on the subject of flowers, I found these cute shoes at the Shoe Dept. Best of all, they are Clarks shoes.
Crocheting is not the only thing on my "to do" list. I hope to make more burlap banners, do some sewing, learn to make some beaded bracelets, clean out some closets, continue cleaning out flowerbeds, practice my clogging, practice my photography,  and spend some time with family and friends.  I also need to get more proficient on this new MacBook Pro!

Back to "normal"

On my first day out since the kidney stone attack, I HAD to stop at Hobby Lobby.(last Wednesday) I found my next crochet project, and the yarn it called for was on sale. Well, if you can really call $3.66 instead of $3.99 on sale! Anyway, I had the itch to pick out the yarn. Hopefully, since I have invested money in the yarn, I will move quickly to finish my current project, the Japenese Flower shawl. I AM at the half-way mark! The colors I chose are "I Love this Yarn"
#130 Dark Olive, #160 Brown, #320 Sea Blue, #154 Burnt Pumpkin, #797 Light Taupe,
#103 Antique Teal, #301 Mulberry, #260 Light Sage
I love the bright colors the designer used, but our living room is mostly muted colors with a leather sofa and love seat and a lot of wood. It makes me think of the English Library look-just much smaller! I just hope I can figure out the pattern!
Now to finish the Flower shawl!

Sunshine

I'm making progress on the Japanese Flower Garden shawl, but it is slow! I don't get to crochet every day, so I think I am doing pretty well!
Update: The pattern can be found
here
I fed my yarn addiction with some yummy yarn. I plan to use this for some dishcloths.
It is definitely starting to look like spring in South Texas. I saw this Eastern Tiger Swallowtail on my Carolina Jasmine.
I'm thrilled with the sunshine. I'm torn between gardening and crafts. Gardening wins when the weather is this nice!
Soon my Cannas will fill this corner. I can't wait. I'm tired of the blahness of winter!

The chickens just want out to taste all the tender green shoots!

Hooked!

I haven't done any crocheting in quite awhile. I mostly did edgings with cotton thread. After visiting Lucy's blog at Attic 24, I was inspired to try a project that she posted a tutorial for. I am thrilled with my results.

You can see her bag here.
I am hoping to try this for my next project. I found this yarn on sale at Hobby Lobby.

I followed Lucy's links to a diagram for making the "rounds". As with any project, it will take me awhile. I don't have much "spare" time for crafts! If you like crochet, you will love her colorful blog! I know I do.
