Betts at Damn Yankee posted about her senior prom. That got me to thinking about my junior and senior proms. The dress styles were definitely different from the current styles! We also didn't go to the salon for a manicure and to get our hair done. In fact, I spent the day with my hair in sponge rollers the day of my junior prom. There was a grassfire adjoining one of our pastures. The whole family helped fight the fire, including me in my rollers. I went to the prom with smoke scented hair!! My "date", now my husband, didn't complain. I borrowed the yellow dress for my junion prom.
I loved my dress for my senior prom. My mom made it for me with a few modifications that I requested! Gee, I wish I could be that thin again!
How pretty you looked in both of your pictures. I always enjoy seeing the photos from formal dances. I didn't go to any dances when I was young, but my son did, and his formal ones were always so much fun for everyone. It's interesting to think about the way the styles and colors have changed. He always wore a black tux, but his last vest and tie were white, which was a very nice look, I thought. Thank you for your kind comment Lorilee. I appreciate it.
Boy does that bring back memories! We all swapped formal dresses around so we wouldn't have to wear the same one; no buying new for every occasion back then!
I teach 4 year olds during the school year. In my spare time(haha), I enjoy clogging, gardening, sewing, cake decorating, and old things! I am married to my high school sweetheart. We have two sons, ages 27 and 17!
We have 2 dogs (Honey and Lexi), a rabbit (Chewey),three cat (Samson, Rascal and Bella) and 7 chickens. The hens are Blossom, Buffy, Scarlet, and Matilda. I had on roo, Gottlieb. Then I let Buffy sit on some eggs and I ended up with 2 more roosters. My coop is called Cackleberry Cottage.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy your visit. I enjoy sharing all the wonderful "little things" that make life so special! Say hello and leave a comment!
