Prom Time!

Betts at Damn Yankee posted about her senior prom. That got me to thinking about my junior and senior proms. The dress styles were definitely different from the current styles! We also didn't go to the salon for a manicure and to get our hair done. In fact, I spent the day with my hair in sponge rollers the day of my junior prom. There was a grassfire adjoining one of our pastures. The whole family helped fight the fire, including me in my rollers. I went to the prom with smoke scented hair!! My "date", now my husband, didn't complain. I borrowed the yellow dress for my junion prom.
I loved my dress for my senior prom. My mom made it for me with a few modifications that I requested! Gee, I wish I could be that thin again!
Ya'll Come Back,

  1. Awwww.... those pictures are so cute!!
I love both dresses- bit you look so pretty in the greenish-colored one! Your mom did a wonderful job on it!

  2. Good morning Lorilee :)

How cute are you two?! The dress your mom made was incredible!

Thank you for the Apple-Smoked Bacon and Cheddar Scones recipe... yum!

  3. I forgot about sponge rollers. I used those too.

How nice that you got to go to prom with your future husband. That blue dress is gorgeous.

  4. The dress your mom made makes you look like a Disney Princess...very pretty!

  5. How pretty you looked in both of your pictures. I always enjoy seeing the photos from formal dances. I didn't go to any dances when I was young, but my son did, and his formal ones were always so much fun for everyone. It's interesting to think about the way the styles and colors have changed. He always wore a black tux, but his last vest and tie were white, which was a very nice look, I thought.
Thank you for your kind comment Lorilee. I appreciate it.

  6. Boy does that bring back memories! We all swapped formal dresses around so we wouldn't have to wear the same one; no buying new for every occasion back then!

Howdy, Thanks for dropping in. I love to hear from you!
