Oblivious Wet Hens!

Late last week I was covering pipes and my mandarin tree in anticipation of hard freezes for several nights. This weekend, we are experiencing mild temperatures with heavy rains and possible flooding.
My yard has plenty of puddles and mud!

The girls are out foraging with little regard for the wet weather!

They do look pathetic though!
Can chickens have bad hair days? I guess not.
How about ruffled feathers?
I have been fighting the "crud" since last week. I finally succumbed and stayed home from school this Thursday and Friday. I also went to the doctor. On Thursday, I hardly got out of bed because of terrible sinus headaches! Thankfully, I am feeling better today.
Y'all Come Back!

  1. I'm just like your chickens, glad to be outside, regardless of the rain! Gotta love this Texas weather.

  3. I'm glad your feeling a little better. I get migraines, so I feel for anyone who suffers from any kind of headache pain. Your girls look like they're having fun.

  6. Chickens are such funny creatures. I have some young chicks that are now in the pasture with all the others and instead of going in the coop at night they are bedding down by the fence. We have been getting a lot of rain and by the time I get out there to put them in the coop they look like drowned rats. Goofy things. I hope they learn soon because carrying 8 wet chickens is not my idea of fun! Gotta love the little rascals!
    Hope you feel better!

  8. I am glad you are feeling better. I was feeling really yucky yesterday and am trying to feel better today. :)

Here is the reply I got on my blog from my MIL regarding the amaretti cookies:

I had never made those cookies before, and haven't made them since. Adrian's sister Cecily's husband James (everybody follow that? lol) is of Italian extraction and is fond of them, so I looked around the web for a recipe that didn't seem overly complicated (as I recall, some of them had about a million steps, and I'm lazy.) I'm afraid I wouldn't have the slightest idea which one I ended up with, but as I recall they sort of fell into 2 categories, the simpler ones and the million-step ones. But honestly, it's hard to go too wrong with cookies. If they aren't baking well, just eat the dough... : )

  10. Were they mad? You know...mad as a wet hen? LOL...they do look pretty sad. Hope you are feeling better. I was afraid my cold was morphing into a sinus infection, but I beat it.
