Nature's Bounty

After several days of braving the hoards of mosquitoes to pick the peas, and then spending time shelling them, I had these bowls of peas.
Then several more hours of blanching, cooling and bagging peas. Now they are ready for the freezer. My feet are ready to be propped up!
Y'all Come Back!

  2. They look good! I don't think I will be getting any this year since I think most of daddy's garden dried up from lack of rain. I do still have a few in the freezer though!

  3. My mom called them Cream peas. The feed store where I buy the seed calls them cowpeas.

  4. I pick them while still moist and a little green. If allowed to dry and then be picked and shelled, they are black-eyed peas!

  7. For a long time I thought I didn't like peas. Then I tasted them fresh shucked - it was like a whole different vegetable! These look yummy!

  9. I may be a total basket case, but I love shelling beans and peas, and snapping beans. I think it goes back to when I was little, rocking along with mama and helping with this chore..and listening to the old stories. I love gardening and everything about it..
Also, I came to tell you I have an award waiting for you to pick up over on my blog....that is,if you accept awards. I so totally understand if you're award and tag free.
    Have a most wonderful weekend....
