- I teach 4 year olds during the school year. In my spare time(haha), I enjoy clogging, gardening, sewing, cake decorating, and old things! I am married to my high school sweetheart. We have two sons, ages 27 and 17! We have 2 dogs (Honey and Lexi), a rabbit (Chewey),three cat (Samson, Rascal and Bella) and 7 chickens. The hens are Blossom, Buffy, Scarlet, and Matilda. I had on roo, Gottlieb. Then I let Buffy sit on some eggs and I ended up with 2 more roosters. My coop is called Cackleberry Cottage.

Aretha's First Egg!
Ethel has been laying for several weeks now. This evening, I found 2 eggs! Aretha is now officially a laying hen! GO GIRL!
Look What I Found!
What a find, considering my recent fascination with anything "chicken"!
The butterfly has emerged!
I was thrilled to get to see the Cloudless Sulphur after it emerged from the chrysalis and before it fluttered away!
Miracles in Nature
My nephew first noticed this chrysalis on the fence. I had never seen one like it. I am most familiar with the chrysalis of the Black Swallowtail. I think it belongs to the Cloudless Sulphur butterfly. I have Cassia growing nearby and it is their host plant. I love the colors!
First Egg!
I went to let the girls out of the coop and found this suprise. The first egg! Hmm how shall I try it? Scrambled, fried, boiled or maybe just look at it for awhile!haha

Frog
This cast-iron frog was outside the door of one of the antique shops we visited! The little sign flips to say "Welcome" too! It didn't have a price tag!
Which came first-the chicken or the eggs?
In this case, I found the eggs first! I was shopping at a local shop called "The Market" and found the eggs. I decided I needed something to put them in. I continued looking and found the basket. Then I noticed the chicken! What luck!
Hanging Out!
According to photos and information I've found, I am guessing that my bats are known as Evening Bats.For more information on bats go to www.batcon.org .
My brother and my oldest son,Dustin erecting the bathouse.
We put up the bathouse in June and were lucky to have 7 bats find it by January. That is when we noticed them. We now have about 200 bats.
Bug's new apron
My niece's nickname is Bug". I made the ladybug cake (pictured farther down) for her 2nd birthday. I made the apron for her 3rd birthday.
My newest apron!
I found the pattern and fabric late last summer. I finally got around to sewing it this summer. I sure could have used a model, but I didn't think asking my 13-year-old son would help!

I think toadstools are lucky. Maybe its because we don't have them during a drought!

Lucy is one of my four pet hens. I am looking forward to some fresh eggs any time now!
Newborn bat
For a couple of weeks in May, I kept finding newborn bats that had fallen out of my bathouse. When I found them, I would return them to the bathouse. My bathouse is filled to its capacity. I am guessing that they would get jostled during the evening exit and lose their grip.

Cute decorations. I don't think of myself as a party girl but Mardi Gras seem like fun with all the pretty colors and of course, New Orleans which is like Food Central. Fun to decorate for even if you never get to go. Plus crowds kind of scare me so I will just do it here.

Your white feather tree looks good decorated for Mardi Gras! Friends of mine in New Orleans tell me they keep their Christmas Tree up until Mardi Gras and then decorate it for THAT season. Fun, huh!?!?
