Branches and Bottles

When I arrived home from school today, I decided to do some trimming in our live oak tree. I wanted to eliminate a few low-hanging branches and thin out some of the interior branches. Earlier, I was in the tree where my13-year-old is now perched! I was probably terrifying to any birds that approached.
GASP, Then I saw this! One of my bottles was broken. It definitely did NOT fall and break since part of it was still on one of the branches.
My 13-year-old swears up and down that he knows nothing about it! I am not completely convinced of his innocence. ( He is, at this moment, defrosting bacon with a hair dryer!) I did find several airsoft "BB's" in my garden area. Hmm, I wonder?

  2. DEAR LORILEE,
I READ YOUR POST TO MY HUSBAND AND HE JUST BEGAN TO LAUGH AND SAID, "I'M SORRY MAM! THAT MAY BE REAL PRETTY BOTTLE TREE BUT TO A 13 YEAR OLD WITH A BB GUN....IT'S A PERFECT TARGET. I WOULD HAVE DONE IT IF I HAD BEEN 13!" I DON'T KNOW WHAT HE MEANS 13...HE WOULD BUILD A BOTTLE TREE "NOW" NOT FOR BEAUTY FOR ME BUT FOR TARGET PRACTICE FOR HIM!
I'M SORRY YOUR BOTTLE GOT BROKE...SPEAKING OF YOUR SON DEFROSTING BACON WITH A HAIR DRYER.....
MY SONS FIRST YEAR OF COLLEGE...HIS FLOOR HAD THEIR MICROWAVE TAKEN AWAY BECAUSE THEY BURNT IT UP USING IT AS A FREE CLOTHES DRYER.....I KNOW ABOUT THOSE BOYS...MY SON GREW UP...MY HUSBAND ON THE OTHER HAND DID NOT.

  3. A perfect target indeed. I could never have put my bottle tree had my neighbors still lived next door-the windows and all were fair game so the bottle tree would never have made it. But bottles can be replaced pretty easily-thankfully.

  4. I'd be confiscating all the bb guns until the investigation was complete. If you find the culprit, make him do restitution by bringing half a dozen or so bottles to replace the broken one~

  5. I think BB guns and bottle trees do not play together well. I will remember the household hint for defrosting bacon from now on!

  6. Replacing the bottles just requires that I drink more wine--not to bad. However, I do worry about my insulator tree. The vintage insulators are a bit more pricey. I have seen boys wandering in the pasture behind my house. I will be watching. I may also move the insulator tree so that it is not so visible from the pasture. Of course, this will also make it less visible for my enjoyment too!

  8. Love it! Thawing bacon with a hairdryer? I've heard it all. I'm in agreement with Lorilee -- it is just too bad I have to drink another bottle of wine. Such is life!

  10. I may,but right now, I would love some peace. His friends just walked to Wal-mart and came back with pies to put in his face while he was sleeping on my living room floor. Somehow, I don't think their cleanup will meet my standards!!! It was payback for the shaving cream one of them received in the face last night!
