My Fredericksburg Trade Days treasure!

While on our girls' trip to Fredericksburg, we had the opportunity to spend a few hours at the Trade Days. I found a wooden cabinet door frame that still had its hinges and glass knob. I was thrilled because I had an idea that I wanted to try. I saw something similar done on a blog, but I can't remember where it was or I would definitely share the credit! The idea I saw used an old window frame and stretched string back and forth to create a note board. (note-that filthy carpet is on the patio and not in my house!)
I decided to use chicken wire on the old cabinet door frame. I found the mini clothespins at Hobby Lobby. It was pretty simple. I used a staple gun to attach the chicken wire. I found some strips of wood and attached them with small finishing nails (to act as spacers to hold the frame out from the wall a bit.) I still need to add some hangers. I thought I had some in my toolbox--ooops NOT! I have a couple of "L" initials that I will add to the grouping when I actually hang it.
Ya'll Come Back!

  2. Great and cleaver idea! You're quite the "handy woman"...building stuff with your own hands AND a toolbox! :)

  4. It looks really good. Hubby and I were discussing if we had the guts to do the chicken wire things to our cabinet doors.
